Little House on the Prairie obtient déjà une saison 2 et accueille Nellie Oleson

Netflix has made a rare decision for Little House on the Prairie: the series has been renewed for a season 2 even before the launch of its first season. The announcement already gives a clear direction to this new adaptation, with the expected arrival of a well-known figure from the world of Laura Ingalls Wilder.

Season 1 is now launched on Netflix, but the platform still does not provide any date for the follow-up. Therefore, we must note the renewal and the first confirmed names, without turning this announcement into a false schedule.

Renewal confirmed before the first season

Netflix presents this version as an adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s novels, focused on the Ingalls family and their settlement in the American West in the 19th century. The series aims to blend family drama, survival, and the origins narrative of a community.

The renewal comes very early. The platform explains that it has enough confidence in the work of showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine and her team to extend the story even before viewers discover the first batch of episodes. The follow-up is thus confirmed, even if its production remains to be clarified.

This choice confirms neither the number of episodes of season 2 nor its release date. Netflix has not announced a release window. For now, the follow-up officially exists, but it remains in the preparation phase.

Nellie Oleson arrives in season 2

The first concrete narrative element concerns Nellie Oleson. The character is set to appear in season 2, portrayed by Willa Dunn. Her arrival directly extends the trajectory announced for the Ingalls family, expected to join Walnut Grove.

Nellie will not be alone. Charlotte Sullivan joins the cast in the role of Margaret Oleson, her mother. Rachelle Lefevre also plays Eva Beadle, the schoolteacher who is to take an important role alongside Mary and Laura.

Netflix had already introduced Alice Halsey as Laura, Skywalker Hughes as Mary, Luke Bracey as Charles Ingalls, and Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline Ingalls. Season 2 thus adds faces associated with a new living environment, rather than just a simple change in the cast.

A sequel without a release date for now

The renewal does not come with any promise of rapid broadcasting. Netflix’s official page confirms season 2 and its first recruits, but does not mention completed filming, production schedule, or launch date.

This caution is useful for following the series. Season 1 must first set up Laura, Mary, and their parents in this retelling of the family narrative. Nellie Oleson’s arrival prepares a rivalry known to readers, without revealing how it will be written in this version.

The next appointment remains season 1, available on Netflix. For the follow-up, the only solid fact is the renewal. As soon as a date or production detail is officialized, it will be possible to clarify Nellie and her family’s place in the new story.
