Blue Eye Samurai season 2: Mizu leaves Japan for London
Blue Eye Samurai will not simply change its setting. In season 2, Mizu leaves Japan to pursue her revenge in London, with a release now announced for January 2027 on Netflix. This journey opens a new chapter, but does not change the question that has haunted her since the beginning: who is her true father?
Mizu arrives in London with two leads to follow
The first season ended with a boat departure to England. Mizu wanted to find the two men who could be her father, after already confronting some of those who have marked her past. The continuation picks up directly from this trajectory, without erasing the anger that drives her.
The teaser released by Netflix shows a heroine still engaged in a bloody quest. But London will not be a simple transitional setting. Mizu will meet new allies, unprecedented adversaries, and more personal demons, in an environment very different from Edo-period Japan.
This shift gives the season a concrete stakes: Mizu must understand a world she does not know while continuing to track the men linked to her origins. The series can thus extend its tale of vengeance without exactly repeating the confrontations of the first season.
Akemi and Taigen remain at the heart of the story
The change of continent does not mean that all characters are separated from the plot. In Japan, Akemi and Taigen must navigate the Edo court and a new shogun presented as dangerous. Their relationship with power will likely take a different route than Mizu’s, but it remains directly linked to the consequences of the first season.
Ringo, on the other hand, is searching for a new reason to move forward. This evolution is important for the series, as his attachment to Mizu cannot remain stagnant after the departure of his former traveling partner. Season 2 thus seems to distribute its stakes between Mizu’s vengeance and the choices of those she has left behind.
Netflix also confirms the return of the main voices. Maya Erskine reprises her role as Mizu, Brenda Song as Akemi, Darren Barnet as Taigen, and Masi Oka as Ringo. Amber Noizumi and Michael Green remain at the helm as creators, writers, and executive producers.
A release in January 2027 before the announced conclusion
Season 2 of Blue Eye Samurai will arrive in January 2027 on Netflix. The platform has not yet communicated a specific day or the number of episodes. This information remains open, just like the details of Mizu’s London mission.
One element is already established: the story will not stop after this new chapter. Netflix announces a third season for 2028, which is meant to lead the series to its conclusion. The crossing to London thus takes on a special significance. Mizu is not just pursuing a family lead; she is entering the last major phase of her story.
To follow the official announcements about season 2, Netflix presents the teaser and the first information on its Tudum site.
